About Living Home Library

Living Home Library is a family's honest, growing catalogue of living books for the home shelf — the kind of books worth reading aloud, keeping, and coming back to.

This library is kept by our family as we school our own children with these books. We add titles slowly, and only ones we would actually put in our children's hands. Every page is anchored by a real reflection from one of us who read the book; where we can, we include a passage or two, and any honest cautions. We would rather have a short shelf we trust than a long one we don't.

We believe — see our note on living books in the age of AI — that in a world where any answer can be summoned instantly, the harder human work of reading, thinking, and becoming someone matters more than ever. Good books are how that work gets done. Our criteria are here.

A good place to start: find books by age and subject, or build a starter booklist for your year.
